Creating a Performance Group is a crucial step in using Adspert. Before Adspert can start optimizing your campaigns, you need to create at least one Performance Group, assign campaigns to it and set a goal. You can also create new Performance Groups at any other point.
There are many different ways to create a new Performance Group. This article presents two most common options:
Option 1: Create a new Performance Group from the Goals page
Option 2: Create a Performance Group for non-optimized campaigns
Option 1)
How to Create a Performance Group from the Goals page
Performance Groups (PGs) help you structure, monitor, and optimize your campaigns within Adspert. This article explains how to create a new Performance Group step by step.
1. Start the Creation Flow
Go to the Goals page.
Click Create New Performance Group.
The creation flow opens in a single-page layout (similar to Create Campaigns), where you can move freely between sections before saving.
2. Define Basic Information
In the first step, enter:
Name of the Performance Group.
Currency (by clicking on the little arrow a drop down opens and you can choose the preferred currency
Optimization type: Revenue or Profit optimization (only shown if more than one type is available).
You may also choose to create an empty PG without campaigns.
Click Save to continue. This is an advanced setting. When you create your first Performance Group we recommend not to choose this option and create your Performance Group by adding your campaigns to the performance group and and follow the flow as usual.
3. Select Campaigns
Use the available filters and search to find campaigns.
Move chosen campaigns from the left list to the right list by clicking on the campaign you want to add to the Performance Group.
You can "Select all" or "Deselect all" if you want to move all campaigns at once from the left to the right and vice versa.
Once All selected campaigns are on the right side click Save and all of them will be included in the new PG.
4. Set the Goal
This is the most important part of creating a PG.
The default goal is Maximize Sales with a Daily Cost Limit (formerly Cost/Day).
When creating a new Performance Group the only option available is the Maximize Sales with a Daily Cost limit. Read this article to know why.
Scenarios: Is the value in the 30 days Scenario range
Last Goal Change: The goal was changed only recently. It’s better to wait before making another change
Historic Values: Is the selected value in the +/-20% range to the historical value
Current Goal: Is the selected value in the +/-20% range of the current goal
Daily Budget: Is the selected value at least 80% of the daily campaign budgets
Scenarios
Right below the Daily Cost Limit field, you’ll find Scenarios, showing the expected impact of different values (now also including impressions).
Goal Tips
A visual “close the circle” element helps you check if your goal is well set. Tips include:
Goal consistency with budgets.
Last goal change.
Daily budget coverage.
Try to close the circle for the best setup.
5. Set Bids
Max Bid is mandatory and caps Adspert’s base bids. A suggested value is pre-filled.
Min Bid is available for Enterprise, Scale, and Pro customers:
It is optional and defaults to be empty.
Must be lower than or equal to Max Bid.
You will see hints if the Min Bid is set too high or too close to the Max Bid.
6. You want to do any changes on your setting ?
If you want to adjust or do any changes to the Performance Group Name, Currency & Optimization Type just click on "Edit" on the very right and Adspert will take you back to the beginning where you start (Point 2 Define your basic Information).
If you want to adjust the election of your campaigns for the Performance Group as well just click on "Edit" on the very right and it will take you back to your selection (Point 5 Select your Campaigns) and you can easily change the campaigns for your Performance Group.
7. Submit the PG
Review your settings.
Click Submit to create the Performance Group
8. Your first Performance Group is created.
Right after creation, the PG will show as Learning in the Health column.
The PG Assistant may suggest changes (budget adjustments, bid settings, goal tweaks) once enough data is collected.
Accepting a suggestion applies it immediately without additional setup.
If you want to learn more about the various Heath Status please read this article.
Option 2: How to Create a Performance Group from Non-Optimized Campaigns
If you already have at least one Performance Group, you can create additional PGs directly from your existing campaigns — including those that are active but not yet optimized.
This article explains how the process works and what to expect when starting with non-optimized campaigns.
Click on "Show Campaigns" and start the flow again from the selection of the campaign.
1. Start the Creation Flow
Select the campaigns you want to move into a new Performance Group and click next
Adspert automatically creates a tentative new group called “New Performance Group”, which you can then configure.
It has the name "New Performance Group and it is preselected and indicated with a blue dotted line around it. This Performance Group already shows in its summary all the Key indicators like the Goal type, goal value, the context KPIs and its budget of those campaigns which you chose to be in that Performance Group.
Click "Next" and you will again get to the starting point of the basic setups that you can now start again to adjust if you want.
2. Name and Basic Setup
The new PG is pre-filled with the default name “New Performance Group”.
You can rename it at any time.
The currency is inherited from the account, so you don’t need to select it again.
Optimization type is fixed by your account setup.
3. Campaign Selection
The campaigns you picked are already assigned to this new PG.
You can add or remove campaigns before saving, using the usual filters and left-to-right selectors.
4. Goal Settings, Max & Min Bid options are editable like in Option 1 more above in this article.
Because the campaigns are non-optimized, goal options are limited:
The only available goal is Maximize Sales with a Daily Cost Limit.
All other goals (ACoS, ROAS, etc.) are shown in the dropdown but remain disabled until the group records at least 30 conversions in the last 30 days.
The Daily Cost Limit is pre-set to 80% of the combined daily budgets of the campaigns. You can adjust this manually or use the Scenarios tool directly below the field.
