First-Time Users: Goals Page Is Empty

Right after signing up for Adspert and connecting your advertising accounts, you don’t yet have any Performance Groups. That is why the Goals page is empty - there is nothing to show. A condition for Adspert optimization to start is to create at least one Performance Group, assign campaigns to it and set a goal.

Create a Performance Group:

  • Click “Create a New Performance Group” button

  • Or click the link in the middle of the Goals page “Create a Performance Group and start optimizing your campaigns”

See this article to find out more about how to create a Performance Group: Start Adspert Optimization: Step-By-Step Guide

Once you have created a Performance Group, to start the product tour to get a hands-on explanation about the functionalities of the Goals page.

Goals Page Elements

Notification Banner

The Notification Banner appears when there are non-optimized campaigns in your account. Click “Show Campaigns” and access all active campaigns that are not being optimized. To start optimizing them, add them to an existing Performance Group or create a new one. You can temporarily dismiss the banner by clicking “Dismiss”. The banner disappears and is replaced with a reminder in the upper right corner.

Data Filters

The first three fields filter the data displayed on the Goals page:

  • Accounts - pick an account

  • Performance Groups - decide which Performance Groups to view

  • Campaigns - the default view is set to All Campaigns, but you can easily choose your own

Search Field

Instead of using the Performance Group Data Filter (see above), you can use the Search field to find a Performance Group you are looking for.

Date Range Filter

The Goals page displays the data of the last 30 days by default. You can change that by choosing using one of the pre-set options (Yesterday, Last week, Last month, etc.) or set a custom date range. Click on the date range box and select a suitable option.

Zoom Out/In

Especially in cases when there’s more Performance Groups, it is beneficial to see more of them at once. Click the zoom out icon and get a better overview.

Performance Group Sorting

On the Goals page, the Performance Groups are sorted based on their current status. The ones that require your attention are displayed on the top. You can also sort them by a wide range of metrics. Click the list icon on the right and choose a sorting option from the drop-down list.

Need More Performance Groups?

Click “Create New” to create a new Performance Group.

Performance Group Overview

All Performance Groups from your account are visible on the Goals page. Each Performance Group is presented as an individual tile with a concise overview of its performance. Click on different tile elements to view, edit or trigger other actions related to the selected Performance Group.

Details (Optimization Type, No. of Campaigns, etc.)

The first section of a Performance Group tile presents its details:

  • Optimization type

  • Name - including an Edit option

  • Number of containing campaigns - including “Manage Campaigns” option

  • Information whether a Performance Group is set as default for new campaigns added to any of your accounts.

Goal & Its Status

Looking further to the right, you can see the Performance Group’s goal and its current performance. You can also edit the goal. Hover over its name and an edit icon appears. Then you can adjust its value or pick another goal.

Note: shown information corresponds to the selected date range! The default is 30 days, but you can easily adjust that (see above, Date Range Filter).

Support Metrics

Next to the goal and its current status, there are 4 support metrics. They are defined based on the combination of the goal and optimization type.

Note: shown information corresponds to the selected date range! The default is 30 days, but you can easily adjust that (see above, Date Range Filter).

Goal Performance

A Performance Group tile includes a miniature version of the main goal performance chart. The dotted horizontal line represents the set goal, and the solid line represents the current goal status. Click the miniature version to expand the main goal performance chart and get a detailed KPI overview.

Note: shown information corresponds to the selected date range! The default is 30 days, but you can easily adjust that (see above, Date Range Filter).

Main Goal Performance Chart

Click “Goal Performance” and expand it to the main goal performance chart. The dotted horizontal line represents the set goal, and the solid line represents the current goal status. There are two views:

  • Current - default view, presents the daily development of the goal metric as reported by the advertising platform(s).

  • Historic - this view presents every goal change (type or value) you made for the Performance Group. The chart even shows when the Performance Group was not optimized.

Because this chart can get saturated with information, it is limited to viewing a maximum of 45 calendar days at once. You can also add another Context metric (Cost per day, Clicks, Clickthrough Rate, etc.). Click “Context” and choose a suitable metric.

To see the data for another time period adjust the date range filter mentioned above. Keep in mind that you will not be able to view the chart for more than 45 days at once.

Report & More Actions

There are more actions you can take for every Performance Group:

  • Report - click “Report” to open Key Figures page. Key Figures open in a new tab and show already filtered Performance Group, so you can zoom in on whichever detail you need to.

  • More Actions - click “More Actions” to open a drop-down menu.

More Actions:

  • Set Default for an account - set the Performance Group to 'catch' any newly created campaigns of your advertising accounts.

  • Edit - edit your Performance Group start to end.

  • Pause Optimization - pause the optimization of the Performance Group.

  • Delete Performance Group - if you ever decide to delete a Performance Group, remember to move the campaigns to other Performance Groups first. Otherwise, they will be automatically placed among the non-optimized campaigns.
