In response to your popular demand, we are thrilled to announce improved charts functionality, visuals, and new metrics: TACoS (total advertising cost of sales), Total Revenue and Organic Revenue.

Tight on time? Watch our 5-minute video to check out all the new stuff.

NEW Metrics: TACoS, Total Revenue and Organic Revenue

Amazon Ads sellers, no more guesswork. Access TACoS, Total Revenue, and Organic Revenue directly in Adspert.

Simply navigate to Reports > Key Figures > Accounts and look to the right side of the table.

These 3 metrics work at the account level only AND if no other filters are applied.

I’ll explain more about each new metric, keep reading.

TACoS: Account-Level Metric

After extensive research and lots of conversations with you, we found that there is no single, straightforward way to calculate TACoS for campaigns, ad groups and keywords.

That’s why you can currently see it only on your Accounts tab and not on other tabs like Performance Groups, Campaigns, etc.

So, while we are still thinking about how to show TACoS on all other levels, we did not want to delay this any further, and we are releasing it on the simplest level of them all - account.

7-Day Average

We confirmed with users included in the research that TACoS with anything less than a 7-day resolution makes no sense.

Why? Because Amazon Sponsored Products campaigns have a 7 day attribution window, and Sponsored Products make up the majority of all paid sales.

So even if you select a date range shorter than 7 days, the table and chart will still show the 7-day average for TACoS.

You can see this from the column title in the table:

… and from the chart. Unlike any other metric, TACoS is always shown as a 7-day rolling average when shown on daily resolution.

Organic Revenue

Organic Revenue is calculated as Total Revenue minus Paid Revenue. However, Paid Revenue is by default adjusted for conversion delay.

Important: this means that Organic Revenue can show different numbers for the last 7 days or so if the conversion delay is on or off.

Total Revenue

Total Revenue is reported by Amazon’s Selling-Partner API and is not adjusted for conversion delay.

Pro Tip

You can rearrange the metrics in your table:

  • Click the table icon and select “Customize”

  • Select or deselects metrics

  • Drag and drop metrics to change the order of the columns

  • Optional - click “Set as default” to set the order that works best for you

I don’t see the new metrics. Why and how can I resolve it?

There are several reasons why you can’t see the new metrics:

  • You have Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) account

  • You are a Vendor and not a Seller

  • You haven’t granted access to your retail accounts

The latter is easy to resolve. Here’s how you can grant access to retail accounts:

  1. Log in to Adspert > Main navigation bar - click your profile icon

  2. Select Adspert Account Settings > click tab "Manage Retail Accounts"

  3. Click “Grant Access

Unfortunately, if you have a KDP or Vendor account, we can't provide the new metrics.

  • KDP accounts lack the necessary retail data, and therefore we cannot serve the new metrics.

  • Vendor data integration is in progress, so stay tuned.

Now let’s move on to the charts!

Refine Your Reporting with Upgraded Charts

One of the things that we’ve heard from you was that you wanted to automatically transfer your custom chart metrics setup from one page to another.

On top of that, we polished the charts’ look and added a few new features to help you better visualize your data.

Here is a list of all chart upgrades:

  • New look: more polished look, using different colors

  • Custom metric setup carries over across pages

  • Focus view

  • Two new comparison views on Monitor

Let’s take a closer look at each chart upgrade.

Charts: New Look

Besides applying new colors, we also added different shapes for each line on the chart, like circles and squares because this helps people with color blindness.

Upgraded charts also make more efficient use of the space, and work slightly differently.

Before, charts had a single dropdown and no legend.

Now, you have a clearer overview of the metrics on the chart and their mapping to the color.

For example, you can click straight on a single metric and select a different one from the drop down. Or click X to remove it.

Focus view

If you want to see only one metric without deselecting the others, simply hover over the eye icon:

Custom metric setup carries over across pages

You also told us that you wanted to automatically carry over your custom metric setup from one page to another. And that's exactly what we did.

Practical example

So: if you customize your chart metrics on Key Figures and switch over to Products, your custom setup is carried over. If you make another change and go to Monitor, it is taken over there as well.

This is now available on:

  • Monitor

  • Key Figures

  • Products

  • Product

Goals and Scenarios will follow at a later point, so stay tuned!

Two New Comparison Views

Last but not least, a major update to the charts includes two different comparison views on Monitor: side-by-side and overlapped.

To switch between both views, click the table icon:

I will explain how both views work.

Side-by-Side View

Side-by-side view is not exactly new, but it has changed quite a bit.

Firstly, the chart is now divided into two separate charts. This is particularly useful when comparing not connected date ranges. In addition, the sizes of the charts responsively adjust. Plus, each day maintains the same width in both charts.

This helps you to get a more clear picture of the differences between compared time ranges. And it gives you a more accurate depiction of the actual situation.

Practical example

I’m comparing 30 days with 7 days. Now you see that the 30-day range is wider in proportion to the shorter 7-day range because the time range is longer as well.

Overlapped View

Overlapped view is brand new to Adspert. Like the name suggests, it overlaps the compared time periods and aligns the first days.

This view is particularly helpful when comparing the same time periods, as the chart lines are one on top of the other.

  • Previous period: dashed line, less opaque

  • Current period: full line, opaque

Conclusion

This is just the first version and we have a lot of additional things planned.

If you have any other ideas, let us know here, we really want to know what you think.
