How Do I Grant Access to Retail Accounts? (Amazon Ads Only)

In this article I will explain how to grant access to your retail accounts for Amazon Ads, explain why along with the benefits and address any data protection concerns you might have.

Let’s start with the why.

Note: You’ll notice a difference in terminology between 'retail account' (Adspert) and 'Seller Partner account' (Amazon). They mean the same thing.

The reason why Adspert uses a different term lies in a fact that we support four different advertising platforms (Amazon Ads, eBay Ads, Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising). Therefore, in cases like this we use more generic terms that suit all advertising platforms.

Why should I grant Adspert access to retail accounts?

Granting access allows us to analyze and do all the groundwork for:

  • TACoS (total advertising cost of sales)

  • Total Revenue

  • Organic Revenue

  • Product Profit Maximization (Enterprise plan only)

The first three metrics are essential for you to get a good overview of your overall ad performance and business profitability.

On one hand, running successful PPC campaigns also boosts your organic sales. And you can monitor that with the Organic Revenue metric. Especially when comparing the numbers to your Total Revenue.

On the other hand, TACoS gives you a more accurate picture of your overall Amazon performance.

So: if you don’t want to miss out on these three important metrics or the powerful Product Profit Maximization feature, you need to grant access to retail accounts.

This additional data source enables us to process and analyze the data and serve you all three metrics that help you make another step towards more profit growth.

How to grant access to retail accounts?

  1. Log in to Adspert > Main navigation bar - click your profile icon

  2. Select Adspert Account Settings > click tab "Manage Retail Accounts"

  3. Click “Grant Access

Which platforms support retail access?

  • Amazon Ads: Available for Amazon Seller accounts only. Vendor and KDP accounts are not supported.

  • eBay Ads, Google Ads and Microsoft Ads: No support

I’m concerned about granting access to my retail accounts. How does Adspert handle and protect my data?

Data protection and transparency of what we do are our two utmost priorities.

When you grant Adspert access to your retail accounts, you will see a list of Amazon SP-API roles like this:

We treat retail access as read-only and change nothing when it comes to retail data.

Unfortunately, Amazon SP-API does not allow us to customize roles or enable you to opt in for some, but not other roles. This is a limitation on Amazon's end, and we are forced to ask for your approval to access all the roles. We treat all retail access as read-only.

Rest assured, we process all data conscientiously, with utmost care, and in compliance with GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations. To find out more, read Privacy Policy.

If you have any further questions about this, reach us via chat or email us. We’re always happy to help.

Why are there no values (only a '-' sign) for TACoS, Total Revenue, and Organic Revenue in my Key Figures table? How can I resolve this issue?

There are several reasons why there are no values for TACoS, Total Revenue and Organic Revenue:

  • You have Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) account

  • You are a Vendor and not a Seller

  • You haven’t granted access to your retail accounts

The latter is easy to resolve. Follow the steps outlined above to grant access to your retail accounts.

Unfortunately, if you have a KDP or Vendor account, we can't provide the new metrics.

  • KDP accounts lack the necessary retail data, and therefore we cannot serve the new metrics.

  • Vendor data integration is in progress, so stay tuned.

Conclusion

By granting Adspert access to your retail accounts, you gain access to crucial Amazon Ads insights, including TACoS, Total Revenue and Organic Revenue. For Enterprise plan users, this also opens up access to the powerful Product Profit Maximization feature.

By following these steps, you're on your way to more informed decision-making.
