How to Connect an Existing Sponsored Products Auto Campaign to an Existing Manual Campaign (Enterprise Plan & Amazon Ads Only)

In this guide I will show you exactly how to customize a Criterion Hub rule to connect an existing Sponsored Products Auto campaign to an existing Sponsored Products Manual campaign.

This is really useful when you already have a Manual campaign and don't want Adspert to create a new Manual campaign.

Attention: only users with Enterprise plan AND enabled Rules Advanced Mode can access this feature. So if you are a Lite or Standard user, you cannot create these campaigns in this particular way.

So, before we start, make sure that you have:

  • Enterprise plan subscription

  • Turned on Rules Advanced Mode (check this from Criterion Hub > Rules)

  • At least one connected Amazon Ads account

  • At least one optimized Sponsored Products Auto campaign

  • At least one Sponsored Products Manual campaign that you will use as an Ad Group destination for criteria coming from Sponsored Products Auto campaign

You tick all the boxes? Let’s dive right in:

  1. Open Criterion Hub. Select "Rules" and click “Ad Groups” tab.

2. From the table, locate the Amazon Ad Group for which you would like to customize the rule. Then click the down arrow on the right. A drop down with all rules for the selected ad group opens up.

3. Edit the Rule: See the first, “Rule” column. From there, locate the rule that you’d like to edit. There may be multiple options, but you MUST modify the rule “Add keyword” or “Add ASIN/PAT”.

In this example, let’s modify the rule “Add keyword”. Locate the “Add keyword” row and then navigate to the right side of the table. Click the three dots icon and then select the “Add/Edit Rule” option.

Note:In case you modify an ASIN rule the subsequence is the same except there is no match type to choose from. This step you can ignore when it comes to ASIN rule modifying.

4. A pop-up opens. Click “Edit Rule” or “Duplicate & Edit Rule” – whichever version of this button you can see from your interface.

5. Now edit the rule to define the ad group target: scroll down to “Destinations” on the left.

.

6. Click “Existing Ad Group”. Then select your desired destination ad group from the list or find it with the help of the Search field, sort or filter it out with Filters.

7.  On the right side under “Match Types” an additional option appears right from your selected ad group”. Check the boxes next to “Exact Keyword” and “Phrase Keyword”.

8. Then delete the “Creating Exact Campaign” match type by clicking the red “X” on the far right.

9. Click “Confirm” to confirm your rule adjustments.

And that’s it!

Now your existing Sponsored Products Auto campaign should be connected to the selected Sponsored Products Manual campaign.

In this case, I can check this from: Ad Groups > Amazon Ads Demo Account (Clothing) > Sponsored Products Auto > from the Rule column see “Add keyword” row – check if your rule settings are correct).

You can repeat the same process in your account to cross check if you set the rules in a way that connects your existing Sponsored Products Auto campaign to your existing Manual campaign.
