How does Adspert add new keywords and ASINS (Amazon Only)

In this article, we will explain how Adspert handles the addition of new keywords and ASINs in Criterion Hub and have set rules as Adspert's default for adding criteria. Adspert's constant effort to harvest new keywords (and ASINs for Amazon Ads campaigns) is designed to boost your advertising campaign's performance.

Within the Criterion Hub, you have three actions for managing new keywords and ASINs: Review, Add, and Ignore.

Actions

Review:

Once Adspert identifies candidates to add to your advertising accounts, review them on the Suggestions Review page and decide which to add, and which not.

Add:

Have Adspert automatically add all qualified criteria directly to the platform. In the case of Amazon Ads Sponsored Products Auto campaigns, Adspert will also automatically create the corresponding manual campaigns as destinations whenever needed.

Ignore:

Adspert will not suggest any criteria for the entire advertising account.

To automatically add new keywords and ASINs, Adspert initiates the creation of a new manual campaign and ad groups.

However, certain conditions must be met:

  • Active Auto Campaign: An existing active Auto campaign should be in place.

  • Optimized Auto Campaign: The Auto campaigns must be actively optimized in a Performance Group.

  • At least one suggestion is ready to be added: Adspert creates campaigns and ad groups on demand only, when there is at least one criterion to add. It also creates only what it needs, i.e., if the first criterion is a keyword, it will create the manual campaign and keyword ad group, but not the PAT ad group. The PAT ad group will be created in the already created campaign as soon as there is at least one ASIN to add to it.

Please refer to this article for detailed conditions required for Adspert to create a manual campaign.

The following sections elaborate on the process of adding keywords in both "Add" and "Review" modes, offering guidance on accepting suggestions in the review mode.

Add Mode:

Adding new Keywords and ASINs to the Manual Campaign

To facilitate the automatic addition of new keywords and ASINs to your setup, Adspert triggers the creation of a manual campaign whenever the aforementioned conditions are met.

Once the manual campaign and ad groups are established, the keyword harvesting process continues following this structured approach:

Campaign Structure:

Naming Convention:

Adspert will duplicate your automatic campaign's name and add the word "MANUAL" in brackets to distinguish it from your original auto campaign. For example, if your auto campaign is called "Jeans," Adspert will create a manual campaign named "Jeans [MANUAL]."

Ad Group Structure:

Ad Groups:

Adspert will copy the ad group(s) from the automatic campaign but create two identical ad groups from the original one. The names of these new ad groups will be the same, with the addition of "[MANUAL]" and "[MANUAL] [PAT]" behind the original ad group name. This means that for each auto ad group there can be up to two manual ad groups; one for keywords and one for PATs.

In addition Adspert also copies the budgets too. The same budget that is set in the auto campaign will be passed to the manual campaign.

[MANUAL] Ad Group:

This ad group will contain all keywords, no matter which match type.

MANUAL] [PAT] Ad Group:

This ad group will contain ASINs.

For example, if you have an automatic campaign called "Jeans" with an ad group named "Blue jeans," Adspert will create a manual campaign called "Jeans [MANUAL]" and create two ad groups named "Blue jeans [MANUAL]" and "Blue jeans [MANUAL] [PAT]."

Threshold/ condition for Adding Keywords and ASINs

Adspert follows specific thresholds when adding keywords and ASINs to your ad groups. Each criterion has to pass our performance thresholds to ensure that there is enough data to accurately assess the quality of each individual criterion.

Important Note:

Adspert does not only add keywords and ASINs that are expected to be top performers. Poor-performing keywords and ASINs are also added to the manual campaign, and they are excluded from the automatic one to gain better control over the costs related to these specific criteria. This approach allows Adspert to bid down the keyword or ASIN in the manual campaign and allocate the remaining budget to drive the campaign's performance closer to the goal of the Performance Group.

In case you want another manual campaign to be the destination of the new critieria, you can do that by editing the destination or setting rules to define the destination (Rules can only be created in the enterprise version).

Review Mode:

Once the preconditions of creating a manual campaigns are met

Adspert will suggest to add the new keyword in the same structure as described above, the main difference it that you need to accept the suggestions, here is an example of how this could look in your suggestion mode:

The Review mode offers an exceptional level of flexibility in determining how you incorporate criterions. Should you opt not to adhere to Adspert's standard procedure and wish to modify the destination or match type of your criterion, we encourage you to consult the article on editing destinations for detailed guidance.
