How to Troubleshoot Data mismatch: Adspert vs Advertising Platforms
Our data is typically very accurate. However, it can happen that the data in Adspert does not match the data in your advertising accounts due to various factors. Either way, there is no reason for an alarm.
Before jumping to conclusions, first check if there really are data discrepancies and only then continue to troubleshoot.
I will explain exactly how you can check if there is a data mismatch and how to fix it for all supported advertising platforms: Amazon Ads, eBay Ads, Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
Step 1: Check If Data Discrepancies Really Exist
If you suspect data in Adspert does not match data in your advertising account(s), first check if that really is the case. Sometimes what seems like a data mismatch, is actually just a difference in the selected date range when you are comparing the numbers.
Make sure you always compare the same metrics from both Adspert and your advertising accounts. Follow this checklist:
1. Same Campaign?
Ensure that you are analyzing data for the same advertising campaigns in both Adspert AND your advertising account. If you are comparing different campaigns or ad sets, that is not considered a data discrepancy, because you are not comparing apples with apples.
2. Same Date Range?
Check that you are comparing data for the same date range. Same as above, if you are looking at data from different periods, that is not a data discrepancy.
Set the same time range and check if the data matches or not. If it matches – problem solved. If data still does not match, follow the rest of the steps described below.
3. Are There Any Filters Accidentally Turned On?
Look closely at your Adspert and advertising account dashboards and see if there are any filters that have been accidentally turned on. Filters are a great way to filter your data and narrow down the results you are after. But if you accidentally leave them on when comparing Adspert and your advertising account data, this can can make it look like the data does not match. Turn off all filters in Adspert AND in your advertising account and check if data now matches or not.
4. Is Conversion Delay In Adspert Turned On?
Log in to Adspert. From the main navigation bar select “Monitor”. Scroll all the way down and check the bottom left corner to see if “Conversion Delay” is toggled on or off.
If Conversion Delay is on for your account(s), then this may explain the differences in data timing.
To find out more about conversion delay read this article.
Adspert retrieves data from your advertising platforms via an API connection. It is important to recognize that Adspert's data is typically very accurate, but occasional discrepancies can occur due to various factors, including API limitations and data processing times.
