The API mainly provides access to the account structure (campaigns, ad groups, keywords) and enables the ability to set individual conversion values to all elements of the account structure.
While the Adspert dashboard enables setting conversion values on both account and campaign level, the API additionally allows setting the value on individual ad groups as well as criteria (keywords, placements). Typically the number of ad groups can be in the 10s or 100s of thousands, while criteria can even reach levels of several million objects per AdWords account.
