In this article, I will explain how Walmart Connect users should set up Adspert to work with their existing campaign structure. Specifically, how to adjust your Adspert Criterion Hub settings.

Why does this article apply to Walmart Connect users? Because of how Sponsored Products Auto and Manual campaigns work and how Adspert uses them to suggest keywords for Walmart Connect accounts.

So: before we jump in, let’s explain why.

From Harvesting to Adding New Keywords

Adspert helps optimize your Walmart Connect campaigns through automated keyword management. A part of that process is preparing search terms for addition with the help of harvesting and refinement.

And understanding harvesting is important for what I am about to explain here: how to use your existing Sponsored Products Auto and Manual campaigns in Adspert.

Bear with me:

Harvesting refers to the process of adding keywords that are found in the Sponsored Products Auto campaigns’ Search Term Report:

  • We harvest the criteria from Auto campaigns.

  • Then we add them to the corresponding Manual campaigns and ad groups.

How is this relevant for this article? Because Adspert can work with your existing campaign structure. You don’t need to change the structure of your Sponsored Products Auto and Manual campaigns. Adspert adjusts to your needs, not the other way around.

The only action you need to take, is to configure Criterion Hub for your Walmart Connect accounts in this way:

  1. Set Rules Action to “Review” (and NOT “Add” or “Ignore”)

  2. Edit Destinations for criteria suggestions

Configure Adspert for Existing Walmart Connect Campaigns (Sponsored Products Auto and Manual)

Part 1. Set Criterion Hub Rules Action to “Review”

  1. Log in to Adspert.

  2. Click “Criterion Hub” and select “Rules”. You should see a list of all your connected Walmart Connect accounts.

  3. From the third “Actions” column, select “Review” for your Walmart Connect account.

“Review” means that once Adspert identifies keywords to add to your advertising accounts, you should review suggested keywords on the Suggestions Review page and decide which to add, and which not.

In short: Adspert will NOT automatically add keywords to your campaigns. You first have to review them and either accept or reject suggestions.

Watch this tutorial to learn more about Suggestions Review.

After you decide which keyword suggestions you will accept, you should decide where you want Adspert to place them.

And you can do that by editing their Destinations. Like this:

Part 2. Edit Destinations for Keyword Suggestions

  1. To edit destinations for your keyword suggestions, go to the Suggestions Review page: click “Criterion Hub” and select “Suggestions Review”. You should see a list of all keyword suggestions (unless you just started optimizing with Adspert – in that case, give it some time).

    • Edit single destination: Navigate to the “Action” last column, click the “...” icon and select “Edit Destination”. This is how you can edit a single destination.

    • Bulk Edit Destinations: If you’d like to speed things up, click the “...” icon from the same row where you can see the ad group name. Select “Bulk Edit Destinations” and you’ll be able to edit all destinations for the selected ad group.

  2. Review suggestion details, select a different destination ad group and match types.

Important: Pay close attention to the destinations you choose. If you start with “Create”, Adspert will create entirely new campaigns and/or ad groups in addition to your existing ones.

What Happens If I Select "Add" or "Ignore" Rule Action Instead of "Review"?

"Add" Rule Action

When you set "Add" Criterion Hub Rule Action for your advertising account, it means Adspert will automatically add all qualified keywords directly to the platform.

In the case of Walmart Connect Sponsored Products Auto campaigns, Adspert will also automatically create the corresponding manual campaigns as destinations whenever needed.

This means if you set "Add" Rule Action, you don't have as much control over where the new keywords are added and how (with which match type). And you might end up with (too) many new campaigns on top of your existing ones.

"Ignore" Rule Action

When you set "Ignore" Criterion Hub Rule Action for your advertising account, Adspert will not suggest any keywords for your entire Walmart Connect account.

This means you'll miss out on potential keyword opportunities that could improve your campaign performance. If you choose this option, you'll need to manually find and add keywords to your campaigns yourself.

Important: If you select "Ignore," don't forget about it! You should regularly review and add keywords manually to maintain competitive campaign performance.

Recommendation

So: if you want Adspert to work with your existing Sponsored Products Auto and Manual campaigns, make sure your Rule Action is set to "Review". This gives you the best balance of automation and control. Then in the next step edit Destinations for keyword suggestions.

Conclusion

The cool thing about Adspert is that it works with your existing campaign structure. This is especially valuable for Walmart Connect users who have Sponsored Products Auto and Manual campaigns.

Configure your Criterion Hub settings like it is described above and you are good to go!
