If you notice differences between the performance data shown in Adspert and the numbers displayed in the eBay Ads interface, you're not alone. These discrepancies can occur in certain cases — and here’s why:
eBay's Cost-Per-Sale Settings
eBay recently introduced an additional campaign setting that allows advertisers to apply a cost-per-sale strategy to different ad placements. This setting appears to influence how performance data is calculated and reported in the eBay interface.
It is reflected by “Consolidated data from placements across eBay" which appears like a keyword within a campaign. The seller cannot pause this like they can with normal keywords. These are conversions and clicks that are not attributed to keywords. As Adspert bids on keywords, these placements are not something we can control.
At this time, eBay's API does not provide access to this specific setting. That means:
Adspert cannot see whether the cost-per-sale strategy is active.
Adspert cannot retrieve or calculate performance based on this strategy.
As a result, the Key Performance Data shown in Adspert might differ from what you see directly in the eBay interface, especially if this setting is enabled.
What This Means for your analysis
These differences do not indicate a problem with your campaigns or Adspert’s optimization. Instead, they reflect a technical limitation in the data provided by eBay's API. Until eBay offers this information via the API, Adspert will continue reporting based on the available data.
Our Recommendation
We suggest using Adspert as your reliable reference for campaign performance within the scope of available data. If you are using or testing eBay’s cost-per-sale strategy, keep in mind that some metrics may be calculated differently on eBay’s side.
We're closely monitoring this feature and will update our system and documentation as soon as the necessary data becomes available through the API.
