Generally speaking the best campaign setup for Adspert is to have as less campaigns as possible. The more campaigns the higher the probability that a campaign has low volume and therefore no or only a few conversions. In order to optimise the best way possible, Adspert needs as much history as possible. Every conversion, click or impression is a data point that is used for predictions and optimisation. Because Adspert is a machine learning algorithm it doesn’t matter if there is one product or keyword in a campaign or 1000 products or keywords. It will be able to handle all of those cases in comparison to a human for whom this would be difficult. This also means that Adspert is able to optimise all campaigns, even the optimisation will work if there are a limited amount of campaigns. Adspert is taking information from other campaigns in the account, so even if a campaign hasn’t got too much history, Adspert is able to use the data from other campaigns.

As already mentioned it is obviously not applicable for everyone to have only 1 or 2 campaigns, nevertheless, it might make sense to think about trimming down campaigns if possible. Instead of having a campaign per product, there could be a campaign per product group. So for example instead of having a campaign for “Mobile Phone 1”, “Mobile Phone 2” and “Mobile Phone 3”, there could be a campaign “Mobile Phone” with all those products combined.

Additionally, campaigns should have a clear naming and it makes sense to put more information into the campaign name because Adspert might be able to use the information for optimisation. If your campaigns are split up by brand it definitely makes sense to write the brand into the campaign name. (Example: “Campaign 1 | Brand 1 | Product Group 1”, “Campaign 2 | Brand 2 | Product Group 1”, “Campaign 3 | Brand 2 | Product Group 2” etc.)

It also makes sense to set up auto and manual campaigns similar to each other. So for example, if there is an auto campaign with 50 active products it makes sense to create the exact same manual campaign with 50 active products. Why? Adspert will link similar campaigns to each other so that the manual can receive good performing keywords from the auto campaign and add those. This process happens so that we can set bids on good performing keywords.
