Once you open the Criterion Suggestions, you might feel a bit confused at first.
Especially when it comes to understanding what Adspert is suggesting and where exactly those suggestions will be applied.
So let’s break this down step by step.
Where are we right now?
At the top of the view, you can always see the root context of the suggestion.
In this example we are talking about the Amazon Ads Demo Account Clothing and everything below here refers to the Auto Campaign "Clothes Jean Men" and here we can see the ad group "Clothes Jean Men". As I said everything you see here is based on data coming in from this exact auto campaign and ad group.
What is Adspert suggesting?
Here, Adspert is suggesting the keyword “men jeans slim”. But the important question is not what the keyword is — the important question is what Adspert wants to do with it. To understand that, let’s have a look at the destination logic.
The harvesting logic (important)
To make this easier to understand, I’ll briefly refer to a Help Center article called:
“How does Adspert add new keywords and ASINs?” (This applies only to Amazon accounts).
In this article, the process is shown graphically, and what you see there is exactly what is happening in the suggestion.
Here’s the logic:
The keyword is harvested from the auto campaign (You can see harvesting keyword) and this keyword
Adspert wants to add: into a manual campaign
as an exact keyword and
as a keyword phrase
at the same time, what Adspert wants to do is:
add the same keyword as phrase and exact negative in the auto campaign.
This prevents overlap and keeps traffic clean.
4. What happens technically here in the background?
To make this possible, Adspert does the following:
It creates a new manual campaign
It copies the ad group structure of the auto campaign
That results is that it copies the ad group twice
one ad group for keywords
one ad group for the PATs so for the ASINs (product targets)
both inside the same manual campaign
Now that you have seen what is the process here and the same also applies to the ASINs we would also add ASINs from the auto campaign and harvesting that and put it into the manual ad group and set it here negative in the original ad group from the auto campaign.
Going back here into our suggestion, we can see that is exactly what is happening.
The keyword is suggested to be added as an exact keyword and what does Adspert want to do, create a keyword ad group. At the same time it wants to add the same keyword as negative in the auto campaign, and thats why its says here "same ad group" - referring to this ad group as the original one in the auto campaign.
The same is happening for the keyword as a phrase match type. So it wants to add the phrase keyword and create the ad group for keyword (it refers to the same one) into the manual campaign and here again set it negative and in the same ad group again - referring to this one.
You can see here as well the naming convention that Adspert applies, its also described in the article.
Once it is creating a manual campaign from the auto campaign it gives the exact same name (you see it here) and it puts it into the brackets - the "Manuel" behind.
So its easy to identify. And that is the manual campaign name, but where its actually added to is the ad group, it has the same name as well.
This is here an ad group for keywords but if we would have an ASINs to be added the ad group would not only be "Manual" it would say "Manual PAT".
6. What if you already have a manual campaign?
What Adspert is here suggesting is that it wants to create a new one and work in future with this manual campaign exactly doing the process that I have explained-.
Now, this is where your flexibility comes in.
Even if Adspert suggests creating a new manual campaign, you are not forced to follow that setup. You have two options:
Either you accept the suggestion as it is and Adspert follows the full harvesting process automatically. Or you customise the destination.
