When creating a new Performance Group, you might notice that the only available goal is Maximize Sales (formerly known as Cost per Day) with a Daily Cost Limit (formerly known as Daily Spend Value).

This is intentional and it’s actually there to help you. Maximize Sales goal gives the Adspert algorithm the best flexibility to learn about your campaigns, especially at the beginning – in the learning phase.

Performance Group Health: Learning

If you just created a new Performance Groups OR you set up new campaigns, the only available goal for your Performance Group will be Maximize Sales because it’s part of the learning phase.

Learning is also indicated with the Health status shown on the Performance Groups & Goals:

Performance Groups and Goals - Learning status

The “Learning” Health status is usually removed after about 7 days or once your Performance Group reaches 30 conversions in the last 30 days – whichever happens first.

After that, other goals will unlock automatically. Just keep in mind the timing depends entirely on your campaigns and market.

Important: Even though you can change your goal type, it doesn’t mean you should. Find out more on when and how to switch from Maximize Sales to ACoS, ROAS, or Cost per Conversion goal.

Why can’t I select ACoS, ROAS, or other goals right away?

This guardrail isn’t meant to restrict you. It’s here to make sure Adspert has enough data. By using a performance-based goal such as ACoS and ROAS, the algorithm is limited in its learning curve which can be counterproductive in the beginning.

In any case, other goals like ACoS and ROAS unlock after your Performance Group reaches 30 conversions in the last 30 days. This typically takes 2–4 weeks, though for some users it can happen immediately – depending on your campaign activity.
