In Adspert every new Performance Group (PG) starts with the Maximize Sales goal with a Daily Cost Limit (formerly known as Cost per Day). This is not a limitation but an intentional design to give both you and Adspert’s algorithm the best possible starting point.
Why Do All New PGs Start With Maximize Sales?
When you create a new Performance Group, the only available goal will be Maximize Sales with a Daily Cost Limit.
This is because:
Learning phase: Adspert needs time and flexibility to understand how your campaigns behave. Maximize Sales gives the algorithm room to experiment and learn.
Health indicator: New PGs or campaigns start in Learning mode, shown in the Health column.
Duration: Learning usually lasts around 7 days or until the PG generates 30 conversions in the last 30 days, whichever happens first.
Only after this initial phase additional, revenue-based goals such as ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion become available.
Why can’t I choose an ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion Value?
Goals like ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sales) are revenue-based goals. To optimize effectively, Adspert needs sufficient conversion and revenue data.
If you set an ACoS goal too early, the algorithm would be forced to optimize toward profitability without first having enough sales data to rely on. This could slow down learning and hurt overall performance.
That’s why ACoS (and other revenue-based goals) are locked until your PG reaches a solid data baseline.
When Can I Set an ACoS Goal?
You can set an ACoS goal when:
Your Performance Group has at least 30 conversions in the last 30 days,
The Learning phase is complete (no longer marked as “Learning” in the Health column).
This threshold ensures Adspert has enough reliable data to optimize your campaigns toward your profitability target.
Summary
All new PGs start with Maximize Sales.
Learning phase: ~7 days or until 30 conversions in the last 30 days are reached.
Revenue-based goals unlock automatically after this point.
ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion goal becomes available once you have the conversion data needed to make optimization effective and stable.
In short: You can set an ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion goal once your Performance Group has 30+ conversions in the last 30 days and has exited the Learning phase.
Before changing the goal, review all campaigns in your Performance Group.
Question to ask: do all campaigns in your Performance Group have at least one conversion?
If Yes: You can switch to a revenue-based goal (ACoS, ROAS, or Cost per Conversion). See here how to adjust and review goals.
If No: Separate campaigns with 0 conversions. Move them to a Performance Group with a Maximize SalesCost per Day goal. Watch this video to understand the dynamic within a PG.
Why move campaigns with no conversions to a Performance Group with a Maximize Sales Goal (and not to an ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion Goal)?
When campaigns have no conversions and an ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion goal, our AI may not push these campaigns or increase their bids to generate traffic.
Why? Because conversions indicate revenue and revenue is the driving factor for Performance Groups with a revenue-based goal (ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion).
So: if you’d like to set a revenue-based goal for your Performance Group, move campaigns with no conversions to another Performance Group with a Maximize Sales Goal to achieve best results and give those campaigns a separate push.
Step 3: Filter and move campaigns with 0 conversions to a separate Performance Group
First, filter out the campaigns with 0 conversions. Click “Control” from the main navigation bar. Choose “Goals” from the drop-down menu.
Select the Performance Group in question and click “Add filter”.
Various filter options appear.
Choose the “Conversions” filter
5. Select “is equal to” and enter “0”, then click “Apply”.
6. After you have applied this filter, you only have campaigns without conversions on the list. Select them all and click “Move Campaigns”.
Move the campaigns to an existing Performance Group with a Maximize Sales goal or create a new Performance Group with a Maximize Sales goal. Read this article to learn more on how to move campaigns to another Performance Group.
7. After moving the zero-conversion campaigns, go back to your original Performance Group and change the goal to ACoS, ROAS or Cost per Conversion goal. For more details, read this article on how to adjust and review goals.
8. Alternatively you can also sort your PG by conversions by using the filter either ascending or descending to see directly either campaigns with 0 or very less conversions that are contained in your PG.
